Reports on Undocumented Alien Arrests
Under OCGA 42-4-14, Georgia jail facilities are required to make reasonable efforts to determine the nationality of individuals in their custody. This includes verifying whether an individual is an "illegal alien" by checking their immigration status. Additionally, OCGA 42-4-16 mandates that jails report details about the immigration status of inmates to the state. These reports must include the inmate's country of origin and the offenses for which they were charged, establishing a system to track non-citizen inmates within Georgia's prison system.
